Classes to prepare children for their First Communion and Reconciliation will begin in March. If you have a child who has been baptized and is ready to receive these sacraments, please call Dolores Sofranko at 352-3964 for information and to register your child for this special preparation. Holy Communion Sunday is scheduled for May 4.

Operation Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services which calls Catholics in the United States to promote human dignity and foster global solidarity with the poor around the world through prayer, fasting, learning, and giving during the Lenten season. Materials and envelopes are in the lobby.

Envelopes for Special Events are in the lobby during the month of February. This special collection helps the parish fund special events such as the Ice Cream Social, Funeral Lunches, the Pastor’s Birthday Party, the Paschal Meal, etc. Thanks for your contributions.

Plants to decorate the sanctuary for Easter can be given in memory or in honor of a loved one for $10. Forms and envelopes are in the lobby. Please place in the collection basket by March 16.

Please renew or begin your subscription to The Catholic Post, a valuable tool in promoting diocesan unity. Envelopes are in the church lobby. Drop the envelope with your $25 check made out to St. Mary Church in the collection.

Catholic Worker Community Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 1, in the Annex. Mass at 8 A.M., followed by a one-hour meeting. All are welcome. WORKDAY is scheduled for the afternoon, 1:30-4:30 P.M. in the main House. Spring Cleaning! Call Ellen at 356-7101.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of women and men of many faith traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer on the first Friday in March each year. Throughout the day, we collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset. Our prayers follow the sun's path around the globe. Friday, March 7, 9:30-11 A.M., Bethel AME Church, 401 E. Park St., Champaign, coordinated by Church Women United.

Inter-Religious Dialogue Series aims to bring representatives of many religious traditions from Champaign-Urbana to one place with one purpose – to be better neighbors by understanding each other through faith. Sharing One's Faith is the topic on Thursday, March 6, 7 P.M., Unitarian Universalist Church in Urbana. Flyers are in the lobby.

Learn about the other ritual churches in the Catholic Church at the St. Joseph Cupertino Seminar for people who want to learn more about their Church and Faith. Wednesday, March 5, 6:30 P.M., Holy Cross Church Parish Center.

Catholic Charities will offer an International Adoption Informational Meeting on Thursday, March 6, 6:30 P.M., 1315A Curt Dr., Champaign. Come and learn about your options. RSVP to Kelly at 352-5179.

Natural Family Planning is the healthy, effective, and morally acceptable family planning method. The initial class of a series will be held on Sunday, March 2, at

Paschal Mystery: Key to Unlocking Our Spiritual Journey is Fr. Philip Davey's theme for the Women's Retreat scheduled for March 14-16 at King's House in Henry, Illinois. The retreat begins at 7 P.M. on Friday evening and ends after noon Mass on Palm Sunday. The cost is $120 per person. Call (309) 364-3084 for more information.

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) invites each young adult (ages 16-20) to participate in a 3-day weekend to live, think, listen, and pray together. Friendships are born, new avenues of charities are explored and most importantly, a deeper appreciation of Jesus Christ’s love for us is realized. The Lord Was Not on Trial will be the topic of the next social justice forum sponsored by the Channing-Murray Foundation. Dannel McCollum will discuss his mother's successful case against the Champaign School District that went all the way to the Supreme Court in the late 1940s regarding religion classes being taught in the school district at that time. Join men and women for the National Catholic Singles Conference, April 25-27 in Lincolnshire, IL. The weekend includes talks by national speakers, social events, times of prayer and more. Marriages must be arranged with the pastor at least four months in advance. Attendance at Pre-Cana Conferences is required.
Communion for shut-ins may be arranged with the pastor.
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered twice yearly at Sunday Masses or may be arranged at any time with the pastor.
The Religious Education Program for school children is held on Sunday mornings at 9 A.M., October – April.
