There are four opening prayers at the Sunday Eucharist: English - varies from Sunday to Sunday; Korean - "Merciful Lord, with all our heart, may we adore you and love all the people truly"; Spanish - This also varies from Sunday to Sunday; Kanjobal (a Mayan dialect) - "God, our Father, we always follow Jesus. May he breathe on us his saving Spirit. We pray in his name." The Apostles' Creed is on page 162 in the Gather Book. At the Greeting of Peace, "Peace be with you" is added in Hebrew and Arabic as our prayer for peace in the Holy Land. Shalom aleichem in Hebrew and Asalamu aleikum in Arabic.
Wanted: 2-3 volunteers to assist in setting up sales of products from the various cooperatives in El Salvador. Contact Fr. Tom.
Operation Rice Bowl is the official Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services which calls Catholics in the United States to promote human dignity and foster global solidarity with the poor around the world through prayer, fasting, learning, and giving during the Lenten season. Materials are in the lobby.
The St. Mary Cleaning Crew will clean the church on Monday, February 18, at
5 P.M. Enter the church from the northeast door. Everyone is invited to help and supplies will be furnished. Call Midge at 378-9660 for more information.
Envelopes for Special Events are in the lobby during the month of February. This special collection helps the parish fund special events such as the Ice Cream Social, Funeral Lunches, the Pastor’s Birthday Party, the Paschal Meal, etc. Thanks for your contributions.

Inter-Religious Dialogue Series aims to bring representatives of many religious traditions from Champaign-Urbana to one place with one purpose – to be better neighbors by understanding each other through faith. Natural Family Planning is the healthy, effective, and morally acceptable family planning method. The initial class of a series will be held on Sunday, March 2, at

The Lord Was Not on Trial will be the topic of the next social justice forum sponsored by the Channing-Murray Foundation. Dannel McCollum will discuss his mother's successful case against the Champaign School District that went all the way to the Supreme Court in the late 1940s regarding religion classes being taught in the school district at that time. Birthright is an international, non-denominational crisis pregnancy center whose mission is to offer positive alternatives to abortion to any woman distressed by an unexpected pregnancy. Volunteers are needed who can provide compassionate, non-judgmental support to our clients. Call 351-7744 for information.
TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) invites each young adult (ages 16-20) to participate in a 3-day weekend to live, think, listen, and pray together. Friendships are born, new avenues of charities are explored and most importantly, a deeper appreciation of Jesus Christ’s love for us is realized. Communion for shut-ins may be arranged with the pastor.
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered twice yearly at Sunday Masses or may be arranged at any time with the pastor.
The Religious Education Program for school children is held on Sunday mornings at 9 A.M., October – April.
