There are four opening prayers at the Sunday Eucharist: English - varies from Sunday to Sunday; Korean - "Merciful Lord, with all our heart, may we adore you and love all the people truly"; Spanish - This also varies from Sunday to Sunday; Kanjobal (a Mayan dialect) - "God, our Father, we always follow Jesus. May he breathe on us his saving Spirit. We pray in his name." The Apostles' Creed is on page 162 in the Gather Book. At the Greeting of Peace, "Peace be with you" is added in Hebrew and Arabic as our prayer for peace in the Holy Land. Shalom aleichem in Hebrew and Asalamu aleikum in Arabic.

Wanted: 2-3 volunteers to assist in setting up sales of products from the various cooperatives in El Salvador. Contact Fr. Tom.

Operation Rice Bowl is the official Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services which calls Catholics in the United States to promote human dignity and foster global solidarity with the poor around the world through prayer, fasting, learning, and giving during the Lenten season. Materials are in the lobby.

Envelopes for Special Events are in the lobby during the month of February. This special collection helps the parish fund special events such as the Ice Cream Social, Funeral Lunches, the Pastor’s Birthday Party, the Paschal Meal, etc. Thanks for your contributions.

St. Mary Parish Nurse, YangSoon Kim, will provide Blood Pressure Screening on Sat., Feb. 9, and Sun., Feb. 10,
after Mass. Join her in the Romero Parish Center.

The St. Mary Cleaning Crew will clean the church on Monday, February 18, at

Holy Cross Church presents St. Joseph Cupertino Seminars for people who want to learn more about their Church and Faith. The Liturgical Year will be the topic on Wednesday, February 13, 6:30 P.M., Parish Center. Call 352-8748 for information.

St. Mary Parish, rural Pesotum, Chili and Vegetable Soup Supper, Sunday,
Feb. 17, 4-6:30 P.M. Good food, bingo, and quilt raffle. Everyone welcome.

The St. Jude Catholic Worker House is a House of Hospitality, offering shelter to a limited number of women and children and serving a daily soup kitchen to an average of 70 to 90 hungry men, women, and children. The House does not seek government funding but exists completely on donations. To assist financially, mail contributions to FCWH, P.O. Box 1612, Champaign, IL 61824-1612.

Lenten Day of Reconciliation will be held on Saturday, March 1, at St. Boniface Church in Seymour, beginning at 9:30 A.M. and ending with Mass at 4 P.M. Please make a reservation by sending your name, address, phone number, choice of beef or chicken sandwich for lunch, and $10 to Mary Starwalt, 384 County Road 600 N., Sadorus, IL by February 19. Natural Family Planning is the healthy, effective, and morally acceptable family planning method. The initial class of a series will be held on Sunday, March 2, at

Biofuels and the World Food Situation will be the topic of a MillerCom lecture on Thursday, February 14, 4 P.M., at the Spurlock Museum. Using more of the world's crops as energy sources could threaten food supplies to those people who are most in need, especially at prices that are competitive on the world market.

Wellness Fair will be held on Saturday, February 16, 9 A.M. – noon, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect, Champaign. Flyers are in the lobby.

Baptisms can be arranged at your convenience with the pastor. We suggest that you consider baptism as part of the Sunday Liturgy.
Marriages must be arranged with the pastor at least four months in advance. Attendance at Pre-Cana Conferences is required.
Communion for shut-ins may be arranged with the pastor.
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered twice yearly at Sunday Masses or may be arranged at any time with the pastor.
The Religious Education Program for school children is held on Sunday mornings at 9 A.M., October – April.
